Sixth Street Shelter Day

On June 6th, 2023, Mayor Matt Tuerk of Allentown made a public proclamation recognizing the important impact the Sixth Street Shelter has on our community, by providing assistance to families experiencing homelessness. June 6th was publicly proclaimed as "Sixth Street Shelter Day," and the plaque we received to make the occasion hangs proudly inside the building.

Join us for a celebration of Sixth Street Shelter Day, officially proclaimed by Mayor Matt Tuerk of Allentown in 2023, as we acknowledge the vital services that the Sixth Street Shelter provides to our community.

First Annual Shelter Day Celebration

June 6th, 2023 was our first annual Sixth Street Shelter Day Celebration. The event was met with resounding success, drawing in supporters of the Shelter from all over the Lehigh Valley. Ian Riccaboni of AEW Wrestling and Ring of Honor came out to introduce the Mayor, Matthew Tuerk. Mariska Van Aalst represented Susan Wild's office to present the Shelter with a certificate of recognition, as well as presenting our own Director, Robbie Matthews, with a diploma recognizing her talent in earning her Masters Degree in Art Therapy. 

Speakers included Director Robbie Matthews, Development Officer Michelle Weissmann, Ian Riccaboni, Mariska Van Aalst, and Mayor Tuerk.

We extend heartfelt appreciation to all our supporters who joined us in celebrating this momentous and honorable day. We humbly thank each and every person who attended this remarkable event, and we are truly honored and blessed to have your unwavering support.
